In gold we trust, it’s what my dear friend and film dealer said. I won’t talk about all the technical detail or other stuff that out of my league. Kodak gold is the first film stock that I used, and subsequently it’s my go to film. I shoot gold outdoor, indoor, dawn,dusk and somewhere in between.

In this post, I won’t alter too much of lab result. I’m only pretty much doing a bit of adjustment on exposure, straighten up and change everything into a square format

The image above is my favourite frame of all. it was around 7am in the morning right after eid ul adha prayer in mid 2024. We walked around the small quint villages in the Dieng plateau. There were buzz of excitement, folks were coming in and out an alleyway pushing their goat and other thing, children was running around barefoot and mothers was mothering while the menfolk was busy sharpening their tools . We just wait there and observing the scene soaking it all up. There was peace among along the action, the deliberation, the action and the result of our labour of love.

There is no fancy technique whatsoever during my post processing for this roll of film, but sometime when it was necessary I’d like to push it two stops for several indoor shoot.

all of those images was taken with kodak gold push to iso 1600. it can be done with a slightly higher grain, there were a bit of motion blur on one of the image, but I had fun shooting the rest of the event. the exercise itself are to see the possibility of this humble consumer grade film stock and push it beyond it’s design capabilities to capture a raw candid moment, or a freezing a time when it was dictated by an opportunity.

This is from my last photowalk with my peers in hunting full senyum. Kodak gold rated with box speed and just the right light are giving me so much joy. it was crisp, rendered the colour nicely. Having a professional grade film stock is always fun, but it’s tend to be too clinical and predictable for me. I’d like the humble almost blue collar aspect of gold, but the most important thing for is was the freedom to shoot without being worried I’m screwing things up
